are now fabricating our traditional style entryways from clear, kiln
dried western red cedar, although other materials are still considered.
All of the major components are fashioned from stock that has been
laminated for strength and stability. For instance, the two main posts
are 4 2x6's laminated together. The cross beams, the buttress beams,
the stretcher over the gate, all are of laminated stock. The three
roof poles are also laminated, then turned to round; very strong and
stable. These structures come with all pieces carefully detailed and sanded. The two main posts, with their cross-beam components, come pre-assembled. The rest of the pieces are pre-drilled where needed. You pre-stain all the pieces, assemble the structure, and stand in place. We supply all the fasteners needed. You usually supply the roofing material. We also provide some good tips and techniques, with photos, on how to complete this project. |
